EAT SAFE AT THE OLD INN – IT'S OFFICIAL

The Old Inn, Crawfordsburn, Ireland's oldest hostelry and a favourite eating place for many thousands of local and International guests who return again and again, has today (Tuesday 1st November) been awarded the prestigious Eat Safe Award by the Mayor of North Down, Councillor Roberta Dunlop.

The Old Inn, Crawfordsburn, Ireland's oldest hostelry and a favourite eating place for many thousands of local and International guests who return again and again, has today (Tuesday 1st November) been awarded the prestigious Eat Safe Award by the Mayor of North Down, Councillor Roberta Dunlop.

With a long established reputation for the very best of elegant cuisine in the 1614 Restaurant, fine dining in the Churn Bistro and traditional pub fare, it was no surprise to General Manager, Brendan McCann that the popular County Down Hotel has scooped the Eat Safe accolade from North Down Borough Council in conjunction with the Foods Standards Agency Northern Ireland. The Hotel, an important heritage landmark, is one of a select group in Northern Ireland entitled to display the Eat Safe logo in its premises.

Brendan McCann, accepting the award on behalf of The Old Inn Crawfordsburn, says:

“One of our top priorities and a guiding principle of the Hotel is to ensure that our customers enjoy the best local produce in its best condition. To achieve this we established and implemented a stringent series of processes that not only meet our legal obligation to food safety, but have gone significantly beyond this.”

“Confidence in food hygiene and safety is of vital importance to today's discerning customers particularly when selecting a venue for eating out. Customers choosing The Old Inn can be fully assured of the high standards which we achieve and our commitment to Eat Safe.”

“This Award sets new standards province wide as well as for our competitors, and I congratulate our Executive Chef, James Strain, and his team, on their thorough and consistent approach to healthy and safe eating, and maintaining the high standards set, which have enabled The Old Inn to achieve this Eat Safe Award.”

Colin Magill, Senior Environmental Health Officer, North Down Borough Council says:

“This is Award is in recognition of standards of excellence in food hygiene and gone ongoing commitment of the Old Inns management and staff in maintaining the very highest standards set. Eat Safe is designed to enable caterers to let their customers know that they put hygiene at the top of their list of priorities”

He continues, “The standard set during the programme of inspections for the Eat Safe Award is very high and the Old Inn is one of several food businesses that we are working with to achieve this Award.
